In Turkey, April 23rd is the anniversary of the foundation of the National Grand Assembly, the Parliament of the Turkish Republic, that was established in defiance of the residual Sultan’s and Occupying Powers authority. It was fundamental in the effort to create a new national awareness in Anatolian people. In 1927, the anniversary celebration was dedicated by Atatürk to the children of the Nation, as Children’s Day. Every year, a Festival is held throughout the Country. In Ankara, a Theatre Festival entitled “Little Ladies, Little Gentlemen” (the incipit of Atatürk’s dedication speech) is held, with participants from many countries, including Italy.
